Our founder, A. E. Sadler, is also the Patented Inventor of the LeafCat. A. E. is a curious and creative individual that will take things apart and put them back together just to understand how they work. He is also an individual that is easily bored and does not like repetitive tasks (like raking leaves). In addition he loves the outdoors and nature in general. Rooted (no pun intended) in his love of nature is a deep respect and love of trees and their critical function as part of our eco-system. Many are not aware that trees take in our carbon dioxide (CO2) and convert it into oxygen. And one healthy, mature tree provides the net cooling effect of 10 room sized air conditioners running 20 hours a day. Trees are critical to a healthy environment.

There were two driving factors that motivated A.E. to invent the LeafCat. 1) He wanted to avoid the repetitive, time consuming task of raking leaves and was surprised to learn that no one had come up with a quick and easy method to address such a common problem. 2) A. E. was troubled by the number of home owners that had or were considering cutting down trees because they did not want to deal with leaf removal every autumn. Making leaf collection as easy as mowing your lawn was his prime objective.

When the LeafCat was invented A. E. was serving as the President of a mid-market US company based in New England. We often wonder how he found the time to go through the patent process while also fighting a two year battle with Caterpillar (the large equipment manufacturer) to register the LeafCat trademark. In both instances A.E. served as the pro-se legal representative. He has told us numerous times that one of the most rewarding aspects of inventing the Leafcat is reading the testimonials that are sent in by LeafCat owners and knowing that other people have benefitted from the invention of the LeafCat. Today A. E. serves LeafCat as the company president and is very active in the day to day operations of the business.
